In a chilling development, an American chocolatier and his suspected associates have been apprehended by law enforcement in connection with the heinous murder of a Canadian animation trailblazer and his wife near their Caribbean retreat on the island of Dominica last Friday.

Police inspector Fixton Henderson disclosed that the charred remains of Daniel Langlois, a 3D pioneer renowned for his company’s contributions to films like “Star Wars,” and his wife, Dominique Marchand, were found in a burned vehicle approximately a mile away from their residence.

The Morne Rouge Public Road, crucial for access to Langlois’ sustainable luxury resort, Coulibri Ridge, traverses Lehrer’s chocolate estate, as detailed in an injunction application. Langlois had pursued a legal resolution in 2018, alleging that Lehrer obstructed the road with boulders, trenches, and obstacles, as stated in the court judgment.

Despite the court ruling favorably for Langlois, Henderson revealed that the animosity persisted.

Jonathan Lehrer and Robert Snider now face murder charges and have been detained in a state prison without the option of plea deals, according to Henderson. While Lehrer’s wife and another individual from Dominica were arrested, they have not been charged.

The bodies, described by Henderson as “charred beyond recognition,” have not undergone autopsy procedures. The timeline for the murders is believed to be between 4 p.m. on Nov. 30 and 8 a.m. on Dec. 1. This unsettling incident adds a grim chapter to a dispute marked by legal battles and, tragically, culminating in a horrific loss of life.
