Brooke Henderson took the lead after the first round of The ANNIKA Driven By Gainbridge At Pelican with a long birdie putt on her last hole, leaving her with a one-shot advantage. The opening day of The ANNIKA Driven By Gainbridge At Pelican will continue on Sky Sports Golf from 3pm on Friday. Henderson opened with an eight-under-par 62, putting her one shot ahead of the rest of the field. Her strong performance moved her ahead of Jin Young Ko and Patty Tavatanakit. Henderson expressed satisfaction with her game and ball-striking, and attributed part of her success to switching irons recently. The tournament marks the last chance for the top 60 players to earn a spot in the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, which is not a concern for Henderson or Ko. However, Tavatanakit, Emily Kristine Pedersen, and Minami Katsu all shot 63 and are fighting to secure their spots in the championship. Additionally, Lexi Thompson, who has not won in over four years, will need to finish third or better to qualify. Defending champion Nelly Korda is currently at No 101 in the Race to CME Globe, and Lydia Ko would likely need to secure second place to reach the Tour Championship. Coverage of The ANNIKA Driven By Gainbridge At Pelican will continue on Sky Sports Golf from 3pm and Sky Sports Main Event from 4.30pm on Friday, and it can also be streamed with NOW.
