Some California cities are known for their historical and cultural attractions, but Los Angeles often gets left out of that discussion. The former Los Angeles Herald Examiner building, where I used to work, has been transformed into a satellite campus for Arizona State University. There is even a fight to preserve the bungalow where Marilyn Monroedied. In a region known for its focus on growth, preserving these properties has not been an easy task.
